2020.09.18 21:49 PandaMcGee3I'm 16 and Passed the AWS Solutions Architect Associate & Professional Exams
Hi all, I was recommended to post here by u/neilthecellist. From the title, you know that I'm 16 and I've passed both the AWS SAA-C01 exam (last summer) and the SAP-C01 exam (last Saturday). I need some advice. I'm in my last year of high school, and I want to try and find a part-time job or internship as a solutions architect. But, just like I was afraid, I can't seem to find a single job as a solutions architect that isn't full-time. I reside in the Vancouver, BC area. Not only do I want a job for the money, but also for post-secondary. I want to show universities that not only am I able to achieve these certs, but I am able to apply my knowledge in the real world as well. My dream schools are Stanford, Berkeley, and UCLA. (Just a side note - before you point out that my application would be considered as "international" if I were to apply to American post-secondary institutions, please note that I was born in California (hence, why my dream schools are in California). I moved to Canada when I was a kid and have been living here ever since.) Is it very feasible to try and find a part-time or internship as a solutions architect? I feel like a lot of companies aren't exactly looking to take in newcomers that aren't working full-time, especially now that summer is over. But, do y'all think I could be considered something of a "prodigy" and, if I'm lucky, I can be hired somewhere? In the future, I don't want to be working in IT all the time. I want to work maybe half a decade after I get my bachelor's degree, because I've always had a passion for businesses and being an entrepreneur. I have some great business ideas I want to execute after university (or even during it), and have no wish to spend my entire career designing cloud infrastructures. But, for now, my focus is being a solutions architect - I'll think about starting up my own companies later. I would really appreciate some feedback! Also, I would also really appreciate it if you guys could give me your opinions on what you think my chances are getting into my dream universities are (don't sugarcoat at all). I want to do a double major in business and computer science (don't know the actual majors yet), or just major in computer science and take hella business electives. Last year, in Grade 11, I averaged a 95% overall across my 8 classes (idk what that is in GPA), I've volunteered more than 100 hours (and can prove I have), and take part in school clubs (most notably Model UN).
Top 3 answers get +3, +2. and +1 balls, bottom 3 answers get -3, -2, -1. LETS GET STARTED Question 1: Favorite Baseball Player and Why Dylan
Growing up every day with Chipper and Andruw Jones in the Braves lineup for the first like 15-20 years of my life was special, Chipper in particular. Acuna is catching up fast, though.
I asked for one player though, not your entire Barves lifestory Bnavis
Jake Arrieta, his rise really mirrored the cubs, and that 2015 season was incredible.
Arrieta can pound a bag of dicks for being absolute shit Ruairi
Barry Bonds. He was the greatest hitter of all-time and it isn't even up for discussion. He was a hall of famer before the "alleged" steroid use and became the greatest player of all-time after. The man would get one pitch in the strike zone to hit every night and he would hit it for a home run everytime. No batter has ever been feared the way Barry was feared, not even close. Everyone can say they hate Barry Bonds and don't respect him or whatever crap they want to spew out, but the truth is, when he came up to bat, literally everyone stopped what they were doing to see what he would do, and then when he'd hit a massive home run, everyone would be in awe of his insane abilities.
Barry Bonds is lowkey one of my favorite players, this is valid reasoning. Polelover
David Ortiz. Self-explanatory.
Fuck the Red Sox Bgro
Jason Kendall bc he was a leadoff catcher and gritty as hell. He refused to ever sit out a game even though he played such a demanding position.

matt kemp, restored my love of the game. in his prime he was incredible and he seemed to be having a blast playing. oh and i'm hyper vain and he dated rhianna while being the best player in the sport and i think that's cool as fuck.
Kemp should have won MVP over Braun. Fuck Ryan Braun Rose
Frank Thomas? Frank Thomas is just a mythical figure of childhood for me. The 2006 A's were an extremely formative team for my baseball fandom and Frank Thomas was probably the first time a player I was already aware of outside of the A's became relevant to the A's, and having him play for Oakland felt like being blessed by a god. Objectively or statistically there are more dominant hitters than Frank Thomas in history but in my mind he's the most impeccable hitter of all time.
I forgot that Big Hurt was an A. Thomas was a fun player to watch Cory
Rickey Henderson. Unbelievable talent with a rare skillset, combined with a cool "hometown hero" story, long career, endless mythology and great stories.

probably driving to a city of 30k people in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, getting piss drunk and doing Too Much Molly for one person. we did all this shit and it's like 1:30, walk to a dominos and wait outside for our shit. all of a sudden this dude comes up to us and asks us if we were the ones that catcalled his gf (we were not) to which one of my buddies said "nah but i wish i would've." dude gets in his truck and chases us down streets of moose jaw saskatchewan for thirty minutes as we run for our lives while smoking grape flavored cigarillos. we get separated, i lose my phone, sleep on a merry-go-round in a park in october (so like it's 25 degrees at best) and walk to a starbucks to find a stranger that'll let me use their laptop to contact my friends bc i don't know their numbers, forgot my facebook password, forgot my gmail password to reset it, end up on this middle aged man's 15 year old dell laptop for forty minutes trying to figure out how to contact my friends while still fucked up, eventually a dude i partied with happened to walk past and i ran outside and got him to call dan, dan picks me up and we drive back home and eat pizza hut
Holy shit Ruairi
Oh boy strap in for this one. So it's freshman year of college. I live in the dorms. I'm single and have next to no experience with girls/parties. It's Halloweekend (the weekend of Halloween so very many parties at SDSU). Unfortunately, I was not in a frat so I was not allowed in any frat parties, so I had to party in the dorm. Anyway. My roommate went to his gf football game (she was a cheerleader for a community college 30 minutes away) so I was just hanging out in my room with the door open to talk with anyone from my floor that wanted to hang. This girl from the floor below me (that I had just met a few days ago and showed off my baseball knowledge to in the study room) walks by my room and stops. She says hi and comes in and I'm talking with her. She has a bottle of cranberry juice and vodka and offers me some. Obviously, I accept. She says she has a full bottle of vodka in on her floor and she'll bring it up to party with me. A really attractive girl wants to hangout with me on Halloween while she is dressed up and wants to get me drunk? Hell yea! So she goes down to her floor and I wait for her to come back. But then about 20 minutes have gone by and she has not come back, leaving me to believe she had bailed :(. So I go across the hall to my friends room to drink and play super smash bros. About an hour or two goes by and I've had some shots just vibin on the floor. A few of the girls who went out to a party had come back and I was hanging out with them. Then the girl from the floor below came back with friends and was trashed. She was in our study lounge puking in the trash so I was in there taking care of her and helping her out. I was just rubbing her back and getting her water while holding her hair. There was a weird dude on our floor who was into her also trying to help but it was super weird and uncomfortable with him there because well as I said he was weird and creepy. After an hour, one of my other friends said Chase and Diego were letting people in their room (now these kids didn't talk much to anyone, except Chase. Me and him were boys). So I went over to their room to see what was poppin' because this was a moment of a lifetime. Chase was a little drunk but Diego was smashed and so was his gf. Total in the room it was me, Chase, Diego, his gf, a dude name Kayvon, and two other girls, Leah and Katie. I was just hanging out talking with everyone and then the three girls were talking about french kissing. Leah hadn't ever frenched so the other girls wanted to show her how. So they passed each other around like a bong just frenching it up. I was dumbfounded. This is what college is??? I'd seen videos but I didn't think they were real. Diego was getting super into his gf making out with these two other girls, kinda hyping them up. Once they had stopped frenching, Katie and Leah left the room. Diego started to get the spins and tried to lay down on his bed. Then he vomited on himself. Me, already experienced with vomit in the evening, tried to help him out and get him up and to the bathroom or at least the trashcan. I did what I could but then his gf was acting all crazy and yelling at me to get out of the room, so I did. I returned to the cute drunk girl on the couch, as I told her I would be gone for just a few minutes (it was really about 20-30). She was super excited to see me again. At that point, she asked me to watch the World Series with her, as the Mets and Royals were going to play Game 5 (I believe) on the Sunday (the next day). I told her of course I would and that I'd be watching in that very study lounge. After a little while longer, I told her she needed to go to bed so I walked her down to her room while the weird creepy dude followed us. I wasn't going to let him walk her to her room because frankly I didn't trust the dude. Got her to her room, said good night, and that was the end of that. I went back to my room and told my roommate and his gf about the eventful night I had. Jumping back to earlier in the story, cute girl said she had returned to my room about 30 minutes later but she couldn't get the vodka from her floor because some dudes had taken it. I had left my room at that point so she ended up going out to the party instead since I wasn't there. I did end up dating that girl for a decent amount of time, but that's for a different survey.

Rose you are a treasure, no ball loss for you Cory
Frosh year. My roommates and I had a couple dorm floor mates who either only have weekday meal plans, or no meal plan at all. So we started casually stealing them some non-perishable goods to last them over the weekend. Through natural progression, this slowly turned into us creating an entire klepto organization that eventually fed most of our dorm house. We had a few tricks. One was bringing sports bags in with us - they would make you check backpacks at the door, but since sports bags might have expensive equipment, they let you take them in. So we'd just stuff them full of gallon bags of cereal, bagels, etc. Our dining hall had a patio area, where at night, you could see in from the outside, but not vice versa. We would load up our plates with one type of food, grab a gallon or two of milk, a tray of cookies, etc., saunter out to the patio, bag/pack everything up, and then toss it over the railing to our Outside Man down below, who would then take it back. At the end of the year, the dining hall had a program where you could return anything you "walked off accidentally" with with no repercussions, so we went to collect and tally any cups/bowls/plates/silverware we'd liberated, and found ourselves with two full boxes of stuff. Fearing *some* sort of repercussions from the sheer volume of stuff, we waited until the DH was closed one night, climbed over the railing, and left the boxes on a patio table.
This is amazing Bgro

Well, since my brother and I played baseball year round from elementary school through high school, we didn't take many/any vacations. So I will have to say the only real vacation I've taken is my trip to Texas a few weeks ago. It was amazing getting to see my best friend with our other best friend. Shot real guns for the first time. Went to the beach a couple of times and the water was so warm, it was amazing. Had Texas BBQ and it was to die for. It was super cool being in a somewhat small town since I've grown up in San Diego/Temecula for my whole life and haven't lived in a farm-like town. It was a super cool experience and I would easily risk getting coronavirus to do it again.
Thats pretty dope, small towns are always fun to go to Rose
my favorite 'vacation' ever was actually recent. i dogsit for my sister sometimes when she goes somewhere and get to spend a week or so getting paid to relax at her apartment in san francisco with her dog and drinking and eating good food. it's nice because it's not touristy, i'm not staying at a hotel or anything, it's more like dipping my toes into living in a big city for a week or two and then getting to return to my normal life afterwards. my 'favorite vacation' was when i was there for over a week last year just chilling with no responsibilities other than taking care of her dog
The best vacations are the ones where you do absolutely nothing Cory

I insist way beyond a humorous amount of time that I'm really not a wrestler and you must have me mistaken and how do you get to Union Street. Then, when everyone's going home and the lights are turned off, that's when I attack. My finisher is called Open-Face Slap, where I run to one side of the ring and then charge full speed at you and open face slap you.

honestly i wish i had a nice plan for you but i know i wouldn't make it. just hangout with my gf for as long as possible and do enough mdma to forget about our impending doom
I have a co-worker who has a full survival shelter with many guns. I go to him to survive.
Good move Rose
i don't believe in my ability to survive alone in an apocalyptic scenario so i would determine if i'm reasonably close to a costco. if i think i'm close enough i believe a society of about 200-300 people could survive in a barricaded costco for several months at least without issue, and i will try to get a footing there. if i can't make it to something like that i will seek out the strongest most prepared looking person in my neighborhood and pray they show mercy.
Good to have a plan Cory
Hoard gasoline and water (a la The Immortan Joe from Mad Max: Fury Road). If that doesn't work out, I would travel from settlement to settlement, bard-style, recanting happenings from neighboring settlements and regaling folks with song.

Go to the basement of the newspaper office downtown. Literally nobody ever goes there, and there's no easy way down there without a pass. Also has a showeshittespace. Also has a secret tunnel to the building across the street if I need to bail.

being held by someone who loves me dearly
honestly last new years me and gf and a few friends went to a rave and got drunk/did a fuckton of ecstasy and danced our asses off then went to this little hidden rooftop in downtown saskatoon that i stashed a few bottles of tequila and some cigarettes on and danced and smoke and drank up there and yelled at strangers on the street until like 4 then got an uber home, passed out, and then made a fuckpile of waffles and watched horror movies in the basement all new years day it was so fucking fun
Thats fucking awesome Ruairi
Oh man this is a tough one. There are two that stand out in my mind, but I'm not sure which one to go with. I will tell another story about the cute girl I mentioned earlier in this survey. So this was a few months later (4 or 5). We started dating shortly after that Halloween night for the record. We spent pretty much everyday together since we lived just a floor apart and quickly became best friends. Anyway, it was a few months later and we were in her room. It was a Friday and I didn't have class until 1 on Fridays. We were making out on her bed and at one point she stopped and just looked at me. She started crying and I was confused so I asked her what was wrong. Through a cracked voice she says "I love you." It was the first time anyone had ever told me they loved me in that way and I had been thinking about telling her that I felt the same way leading up to this day but was too scared to. When she said it, I was then able to say it, which surprised her because I wasn't a very open person back then. It's one of the best feelings to have someone you love tell you that they love you back. And even though we aren't together anymore, the memory is still a good one for me, because it reminds me that I can be loved and I can feel love for someone, even in times when those things don't seem possible.
This brought a tear to my eye my dude Rose
it feels slightly underwhelming to call it my happiest memory because it didn't last in the end but i think the most undeniably happy thing i can think of is entering my first real romantic relationship as a teenager. a lot of that time of my life i was fighting with depression and a genuine and significant romantic relationship was a realization that i could be deserving of love from other people and that i could connect and relate to another person in ways i was afraid i wasn't capable of.
This fucking hit me hard because I've been there Cory
Camping with my brother and parents. Usually our trips involve some amount of shouting and fighting, even the really good ones. But this trip, we just spent three wonderful days in the wilderness, enjoying nature, eating good campfire foods, laughing and playing board games. Some catchphrases were spawned while playing those games that my family still quotes to this day.
That's awesome, I'd give anything to have that kind of time with my family again Dylan
I went to a concert with a friend of mine that had just left the company we had worked for. She was in a relationship but she asked me to go with her because she had an extra ticket. It was a great time, really fun, great vibes. Didn't realize at the time that would be the person I'd be living with about 3-4 years later. Don't know if it's my happiest memory but it makes me really happy, know what I mean?
Thats awesome dude Bgro
Either various moments on my solo bike trip across the country where I just felt total tranquility and satisfaction near the end of my trip OR this one time when my first nephew was like one and I was his favorite person and I took him out for a walk. He was distracted and I walked a little ahead of him and when he turned and noticed me a little further away, we made eye contact, he grinned a wide smile and then ran to me arms wide open for a hug. Kids do that kind of stuff all the time to people they know and trust but I've never felt such pure unadulterated love as I have from that kid in that moment. There is no artifice or conditionality in that sort of love. It felt good to be the cause of that someone else's sheer joy and seeing his face light up when he saw me, thats a memory that always brings me happiness.

2020.09.16 19:31 ASMRekulaarForest Service Road Adventure. Success.
I recently requested advice on forest service road driving here. A lot of the responses were do not do it or trust it. A handful were be safe and cautious. What I ended up doing was a bit of both. TL;DR: Be Cautious. Know your route before you start. Drive Slow and don't be bullied, let others pass. Don't assume you can get over a boulder, just avoid it. Charge Hearty, for tonight we drive through hell. The area I drove to was Lillooet Lake in BC. Specifically Strawberry Point campsite (I also tested out Cal-Cheak Rec Site). I did a test drive to this campsite a week in advance instead of going in blind the weekend of the trip. This road is gravel and maintained greatly during the first few kilometers before being mildly let go but driven enough to be quite good, only a couple random boulders sticking up but not high enough to do any damage. I avoided them anyhow. I drove 25 km/h and below.. anyone coming up behind me was respectful and let me pull over so they could pass, waved a thank you and then I returned to the drive. The campsites are about 8 to 10 KM down the road. Strawberry Point was accessible without worry of damage, there were no tracks driven into so deep that you had to ride the middle and edge, it was all flat. I got out of the vehicle and scouted the road in the campsite before driving into it. Noted some worry spots and any issues I would encounter. The biggest thing that calmed me about it was taking it one kilometer at a time. I kept an eye on the vehicles coming the opposite way to gauge their heights, some of the lower ones were Honda Civics and Fits. As well don't be bullied into driving fast by anyone behind you, there are only a few single lane chokepoints, you can always signal to pull over and let them pass. Charging Info: I charged to 100 at home (Vancouver BC area) made it to Whistler, charged at The Fairmont Hotel to 90. The Fairmont supercharger network is in their parking garage. It is a paid lot but secure, covered, near amenities. Only burned 10 percent to get to the campsite from Whistler and keeping the vehicle active, charging devices, opening and closing the doors, showing it off to curious passersby only burnt it down to 73 percent over 4 days. I'm not sure if any of this info is useful to anyone but thought I would share and of course.. This is one forest service road of many.
2020.09.16 14:56 KyloRensPecsSong of the Week: The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret
As the nomination with the most upvotes, the new song of the week is: The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret! Arguably the band's first 'hit' song, The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret is the epitome of a QOTSA song. It's got a bouncy little riff, vague yet personal lyrics, some falsettos courtesy of Mr. Homme. It was the first song released with a band lineup that we come to think of as an iteration of QOTSA proper, considering self-titled was more or less a solo project, and it really set the tone for what was to come.
The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret was released as the first single from the band's second album, Rated R, on August 7, 2000.
It reached #21 on the Mainstream Rock chart, #36 on the Modern Rock chart, and #31 on the UK Singles chart.

Musicians need physical barriers between them and guests (plexi usually)
Note: This is all based on actual individual experiences. Please be aware that it isn't gospel. Visit at your own risk and contact the establishments for up to date info. Updated Sept 16, 2020
10 Acres Commons - Staff wearing masks, contact tracing on entry, sanitizer on entry and at bathrooms. Restricted bathroom capacity not being controlled or suggested. Plexi dividers on top of booth seating (approx 6 ft high). Tables slightly distanced (more so on patio). Bar seating does not have a barrier. No major menu changes. Artisan Bistro in Broadmead - Contact tracing, keeping the doors open, tables very spaced out, well spaced patio as well, all staff wearing masks. Baan Thai on Blanshard - Taking temps at the door, contact tracing, wearing masks and physical distancing. Bard and Banker - staff wearing masks, contact tracing being taken at door, enforcing 6 person max per table/group with no socializing between tables. Sanitizer is plentiful at front door and bathroom. Not enforcing bathroom capacity. No major menu changes. Beagle Pub - Inconsistent contact tracing as of a month ago. Some staff masked but not all. Bartender wiped nose then handled glassware a couple of times. Sanitizer plentiful and staff trying to physically distance/enforcing the 2 metre rule. Some staff congregating with patrons/hugging. Bodega: all staff wear masks. Contact tracing all persons, tables spaced properly, 6+8 seats at the bar, behind plexiglass. Sanitizer everywhere. Single stalk bathrooms. Tables and chairs cleaned after each guest. Boom and Batten - Staff have face shield mask combos, tables separated. Bathrooms are individual with cleaning schedule and we’re very clean. No menu changes (someone could confirm). Didn’t contact trace at door but with reservation they likely didn’t need to. May differ for walk in. No major menu changes. Brentwood Bay Resort Pub - Contact tracing consistent. Sanitizer on entry. Tables inside and on patio both distanced, but no clear walkways to avoid tables en route to patio from inside. One defined entrance and one exit to minimize contact. Staff wearing masks, and asking for distance when bussing tables/bringing food/drink. Browns Social House - Uptown - Staff wearing masks at all times. Tables removed or blocked for distancing. Contact tracing has been consistent. Hand sanitizer at each table. Paper disposable menus. Bathroom tight with more than one person. No menu changes. Cafe Mexico - staff wearing masks, contact tracing information taken, some seating removed, larger patio area, reduced menu, plexiglass. Category 12 Brewing - Unsure on contact tracing. Staff wearing masks. Plexi barriers in place, no growler fills. Distancing in line and seating inside and outside is well spaced. Staff meticulous in cleaning the tables and even sanitizing the seats. Felt like one of the safest local establishments. Christie's Pub - has distanced tables (not removed but "don't sit here" sheets on them) and contact tracing at the door, and sanitizer at the front. The staff do not have masks. They have some plastic sheeting between some of the areas (if you have been there you know there are separate areas/rooms with half-height walls between them), and you can sit at the bar. They have an outdoor section as well that also has distanced tables. Paper menus, and also menus visible on the walls. Drake Eatery - Very spaced out patios (upstairs and downstairs) in market square. Staff wearing masks, order at bar (plexiglas). Only interaction with staff was behind plexi and then self service taking your own drink to your table. Food is delivered by staff. Heat lamps outside. The bar completely surrounded, there were single bar seats in plexiglass little booths. The booths themselves have plexiglass in between. Greeter at the door taking info down for contact tracing. Finn's - Little distancing on patio. Tables inside spaced out more than usual but very little. Guests approx 3-4 feet apart when seated (back to back). Contact tracing in progress. Staff have masks but both experiences I have had them fiddling with them or the fit wasn't correct. Sanitizer available at front and bathrooms. No major menu changes. Fisherman's Wharf - Being monitored for distancing at entry on walkway with staff. Bathrooms distanced with markers. Many vendor line-ups distanced with markers, however most patrons not distancing from others when seated, walking around, etc. Most not wearing masks. Four Mile Pub - Voluntary contact tracing at entrance, sanitizer at entrance. Tables not distanced super well. Staff wearing masks but saw many who removed them or pulled them down while at the bar handling drinks. Menu has shifted over the last few months but everything on current menu was available. Plexi at bar in pub area and downstairs. Can’t comment on restaurant side. Garrick’s Head Pub - Staff wearing masks, plexi dividers between tables and at the bar seats. Bathrooms iffy for cleaning. No sanitizer at tables but available at front door and bathroom. No major menu changes. Reports of staff congregating/hugging guests though, which may limit effectiveness of any of these measures. House of Boateng: limited seating with an expanded patio, staff all wear masks, tables are sanitized and designated as 'serviced' between customers, one way traffic, contact tracing etc. Il Sauvage Brewing - Contact tracing in place. Distancing is in place on bar side. No plexi divider though for bar seating between bar and patrons. Can’t comment on restaurant side yet. Bathrooms downstairs in hotel. Sanitizer available. I’m a Asian twink bottom. I don’t know if I’ve become asexual. I haven’t had sex for three years. I really tried to find a partner in Vancouver, BC. I’ve tried on Grindr and other apps. None success. Either I got blocked or ignored. I’m nearly 30 now. I’m so afraid I will be alone until I die. I barely have experience with guys. So it’s painful to have sex with larger dicks. What can I do? Will I be single forever?

First time ordering from BG, I've always ordered from AE, so I know how Chinese ecommerce works. Ordered a phone (over $200USD) on Aug 16th, now 27th, still no tracking info from 3rd party tracking providers provided (parcelsapp, 17track, etc.). The only website that is showing a tracking status is banggood's own web tracking service in which I am doubtful that is showing legitimate results. I am wondering if anyone else can share similar experiences.

- I live in Vancouver which is where the largest shipping port to China in Canada is located. Every single parcel that I've ever ordered from China in my lifetime goes through Vancouver as the point of inspection for all overseas parcels coming from China for inspection and processing before it gets delivered to its destination in Canada. The fact that processing is done in Toronto (as indicated) instead of Vancouver (where I live) makes it suspicious as that is not how the process works. Once again, all overseas processing from China for inspection and processing for delivery in Vancouver (BC) is done in Vancouver. - The lack of 3rd party tracking information provided also leaves me with some doubts that the tracking number provided is legitimate.

Hello! I'm a 30 year old man, currently living in Vancouver island, but looking to move to the lower mainland region within the next year or so (I got laid off earlier this year, moved from AB back to BC and now im trying to find work, so I'll move once I have something). I figure now is the perfect time to get to know someone at a distance. (Apparently I can't edit the headline, but NB/trans folk are welcome too) I have 2 cats. I'm a stocky and tall type (6ft) who could pull off plaid. Ive got a beard and a single tattoo (so far). I'm a softie and I like cute stuff and social issues. My politics are important and I swing to the left. I'm on the heteroflexible part of the bisexual spectrum, and I'm a switch (hoping to find another switch, if I'm honest). I consider myself an ally to black lives matter and indigenous activists. I believe in defunding police and collective action. I'm a PC gamer and building enthusiast. I like scifi and geek culture. Marvel movies and star wars. I just finished watching She-Ra. My main passion is aviation and it was where I worked before the pandemic. I like to cook and have fun, but I'm a bit of a hermit. I have my issues, I have depression, but im working on it. I also have communication issues from my childhood. It makes me awkward and somewhat oblivious. Again, working on it and hugely improved from even 5 years ago. I'm honest to a fault and don't like having to guess. Drop me a line if you think you might be interested. Let's go slow and get to know each other from a socially acceptable distance. Hope to hear from ya! Have a recent pic too! https://imgur.com/7dzTgss.jpg

They were incredibly poor, and had a very hard life. My father put himself through school and became relatively successful in his field. He was/is emotionally neglectful, an alcoholic, a chain-smoker, verbally abusive, narcissistic, and just... should never have been allowed to have children. Or pets. I know he loves me in his own way, but... My mother was born in Canada to two white parents, the eldest of four. She is... she was never diagnosed, but I believe she's schizophrenic (paranoid, delusional, conspiracy theorist) and also has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. She's a former cult leader. She jumps around with her beliefs; went from non-religious to extremely religious then to Mormonism. Now she's no longer religious, is an extreme vegan, and thinks that I (her child) am the victim of a child sex trafficking ring (I'm not), and a clone of myself (the real me is in space being held in space prison because why else would I cut her out of my life?). I could go on forever. History: They divorced when I was 4, and it was ugly. My mother falsely accused my father of hitting her (she faked her injury) and he was taken away for a bit, although later released. The custody battle was long and drawn out; first my mother had complete custody, then joint custody with my father, before he eventually gained full custody of us. They hated each other. My mother ruined my dad's life (drove him to bankruptcy, spread rumours about him, called the police on him multiple times, etc). My mother had a boyfriend at the time, let's call him..... Timbo. He was always super creepy and I hated him. To try and get full custody of us, my mom and Timbo told me over and over again that my dad molested me. They would take me to a room and record me so that they could get me saying it on tape, for hours each time. The only reason this was found out is because we had a child psychiatrist and he found it suspicious that whenever he asked me if my dad had done anything, I would say no. But he followed my mom when she took me to the bathroom and heard her telling me that if I wouldn't say it, that she "wouldn't love me anymore." I know my dad didn't molest me, but I think Timbo might have. I have no memory, no proof that it happened, but he's always in the back of my mind and he gives me a bad feeling. There's so much more, but yeah. This was all before I was 7 I believe. There was a restraining order against my mom at one point (she stalked us at school, left chalk messages outside our house, tried to kidnap us (more than once I think). My dad had full custody at some point, but he was a single parent of two kids. We went from a nice house to a one bedroom apartment, where he ran his practice out of the living room. As kids and teenagers, my brother and I were raised to be quiet. If we got too loud, or we fought with each other to the point of it being audible, dad would scream at us to come to the living room and berate us for a while. It didn't matter if we were in our pjs, or if his secretary was there, or he had clients or friends over who saw everything. Life with him was awful, to the point that our mom looked like the good option. My mom had given me a burner phone at one point as a kid, and told me to hide it. When I was 11 or so, my brother and I started calling her on it when my dad would go out (either because of his job, or because he'd go out drinking). She was the best parent in the world then. She took us out for food, or out to the arcade, and just... spent time with us, before she took us home a few hours later, my dad none the wiser. Until he caught us when I was 12. I had called our mom as soon as he left the house (he said he'd be gone for a bit), but he came back only 20 minutes later to grab something. He flipped out. Screamed at us, at her, hung up the phone, and yelled even more before leaving once again. I truly thought that he would kill us when he came back (he wouldn't have, he never hit us that I can recall, but I was terrified of him as a child) so I called mom to pick us up. And she did. Technically, she kidnapped us. There was a nationwide search for us, I believe. She took us to the West Coast and for 3 months, we stayed with various people she knew, never in one place for too long. We didn't know any better, didn't think of the consequences. The night I turned 13, we waited for mom to come back for hours. She went out to run an errand, in the evening and never came back. As it turns out, she was arrested by the police. The next thing I knew, the police raided the house and took us away. We didn't get to say goodbye to the family we were staying with, the children we were friends with, or pack anything. Everything was left behind. We were taken to a foster care facility and separated. I remember being given a cot in a room full of 15-20 other girls, most older than me, and crying myself to sleep. I could hear them whispering about me. I didn't know where my brother was other than that he was in the same facility (in the boys section, he told me). There were cockroaches, too. We were supposed to go to a waterpark that afternoon. Instead, I spent my birthday with Social Services (when they found out it was my birthday, they bought me Taco Time and gave me a book, so good on them I guess), forced to talk to my dad over the phone and my grandma who was so sick with worry that she never truly recovered afterwards. We stayed at some sort of foster home for a bit before being flown home with an aunt who lived in Vancouver. We went back to our dad's place and nothing changed. We never talked about it again. I realized I liked girls. I started cutting myself. I never came out to my father (who studied at one point to be a priest, and who collects guns, swords, knives, rifles, etc.). I tried to commit suicide several times. I lived with a friend and a family for several months the year I started highschool (dad paid them $500 a month, don't know why he did. Feels insulting now though), went back to my dad's, started working under the table at 14 to save up money to run away. My brother and I used to be close, but he changed. He grew angry and we fought constantly. I did my best to be the buffer between him and my dad all my life, but I did not tell him that I was going to leave one day, until a week or so before I actually did. I ran away when I was 15 or 16 to my first girlfriend's place. Her family welcomed me. And then I bounced around a lot (grandma's, a coworker's place, etc), tried college for a year and a half before dropping out because I was too scared of failing or any sort of criticism. There was no contact with my dad until... suddenly there was. I don't remember how it happened, but up until I left with my fiancee for our trip back in July 2020, I was visiting him at least once a month. And there has been no contact between my mother and I for almost a decade now (once she went off the deep end and started showing up at my workplace, I finally realized that our relationship was extremely toxic. That and I could no longer stand the constant BS she was spewing (she was the messiah, only she knows what's best, she owns the BC mountains, she's half alien, etc). Current situation / where I need help and/or advice: I could keep writing forever about my history, but currently my situation is this: My father lives in a run down house with my brother who lives in the basement, and they hate each other. The walls are peeling, the floor has holes in it, there are boxes and totes from floor to ceiling in the living room, kitchen, and basement because he is a hoarder. There are storage cans in the backyard, making it unusable. The dogs are tethered to the baseboards of the wall by about 6 ft of rope. They are not walked as far as I know, and are only let outside to go to the bathroom. In the last few months, the male dog has attacked me and bitten my hand, sending me to the ER, and the female dog mauled one of the cats. While I'm pretty sure this is the female dog's first time being aggressive (at least, that I know of), the male dog has attacked more than once. He's bitten myself, my brother, my father, other people, scared a cat to death, and killed another dog about 8 or so years ago, leading to him being labeled a dangerous dog. There are about 17 cats (3 litters) in the house, with only 4-6 litterboxes that are rarely changed. There is urine and feces everywhere, and the entire house reeks. The last litter of cats is trapped in a single room, about 8x8 feet and two litter boxes. Nothing in there but tables and chairs. They are not allowed out of this room, because my father fears that they will get too close to the dogs and get hurt. The other cats have free roam of the house. My father loves all of these animals and says he's doing his best to care for them, but he is neglectful to the point that more than one injury has happened under his watch. He's also physically disabled and can barely walk without a cane, so he can barely take care of himself let alone these animals. He feeds them regularly as far as I know and gives them water and some attention. He has gotten almost all of the cats fixed / microchipped. The reason he has so many is because he took in pregnant strays over the years (the first one almost a decade ago and the last two within the last two years). I know I should have called animal control years ago, but I was always terrified to and a part of me still... wanted to believe the best in my father. I'm still terrified of him, but it's reached a boiling point. My brother and i have been in contact off and on and when I talked to him a few days ago he gave me the news about the cat getting hurt. A month ago, my dad's female dog attacked one of the cats in the house because it got too close to her. It lived, but was on a feeding tube for weeks and had to get one eye removed. And when it happened, my brother lost it on my dad. There was a lot of screaming, and according to my brother, dad swiped at him with his cane. My brother tried to grab it, causing my father to fall to the ground. This is the first time there's ever been any sort of physical conflict that I know of, and it scares me. I don't know what to do anymore. My brother wants me to call my dad and tell him to fix the situation or I will call animal control, but I don't know if I can. I know he can't hurt me, but I'm terrified of even the thought of standing up to him. I don't know how. I've contacted some outside family members, and while they're not willing to take my brother in (a story for a different time), they will prevent him from being homeless because he's family. I'm going to file an anonymous report to animal control in hopes of the animals being taken away from my dad, or at the very least giving him a warning to get his shit together. I'm waiting for my brother to see the message I left him before I take action, because I know my father will think it was him that did it, and may retaliate. I've told him to tell our dad that it was me that reported him if he has to. I'm scared of the fallout that is coming. I'm not ready for it. I'm unemployed after 6 years, trying to apply for university in a city I don't know, and my fiancee and I are working on finding jobs / an apartment as well. She's incredibly supportive and knows everything, but she's struggling too as she deals with her own toxic family situation, and her own mental health struggles. If you've made it this far, thank you for reading my story. I appreciate any advice or support that you may give.
2020.08.18 17:57 PerdinVancouver – Tuesday’s Question – “What were you like in High School?
Hey /Vancouver, I’ve finished watching Never Have I Ever on Netflix yesterday. I enjoy the odd slice of life shows like Euphoria, This is England (And Miniseries), and Kids on the Slope, to name a few. If the show is set in high school, I can’t help but cringe at my own high school experience. Which is why I wanted to ask this question, what were you like in high school and how different are you now? I was a punk in high school, I often looked like the guy from Prodigy if he was younger and fatter. I hanged out with a small group of friends who lurked in the science wing stairwell during lunch hours, but that was it for friends. I played football for a single season because the coach asked me to play (due to my size). I got to play in BC Place, that was pretty cool. I quit next season because I hated two-a-days, and my dad made a huge scene about equipment fees. I didn’t go to Prom, I was more interested in my online friends. I was really rough around the edges socially. Looking back I think I’ve chilled a lot since high school and have significantly improved my social/communications skills. I’ve developed and nourished my real-life relationships over internet ones (Sorry /Vancouver), and have become more open-minded about people’s struggles in their day to day lives. Appearance wise I think I’ve paid the price for my reckless use of hair dye/bleach (As I am now baldish). I also had no idea what I wanted in life and felt very lost, I can’t say the same about that now. Have a great Tuesday everyone.
2020.08.17 18:00 SubjectEstimate6I’m embarrassed at how Canadians are treating Americans right now.
I am Canadian and have lived my entire life in the Vancouver BC area. My wife however, is from California and has California plates on her car. She has been staying with me in Canada since before the border closed in March because we’re in the middle of our immigration process and aren’t legally allowed to live together yet. Every single day she gets dirty looks, flipped off, pictures taken of her car by ignorant people who just assume she’s here illegally and pretending to drive to Alaska. She even has had managers called when showing her ID at hotels and bars and have had people threaten to phone the police. Even our own friends and family say things such as “I mean yeah it’s okay she’s here but all the other Americans are just trying to find a loophole to get into Canada by saying they’re going to Alaska.” Even B.C.’s own premier, the leader of the provincial government, suggested people with American license plates take the bus so they don’t get hassled, instead of using his platform to tell people they have no idea why someone is here and not to judge someone based on a license plate. There’s a huge cult like “we’re superior” mentality Canadians have right now where everyone seems to think entitled, virus spreading Americans are lining up at the borders begging to come in to Canada and it’s completely false. As someone with a lot of friends and family in the USA I can tell you with certainty that 1. The border closure hasn’t even been on the news in a lot of areas of the USA so a lot of people don’t even know it’s closed. And 2. Majority of Americans don’t even have passports and have no interest in ever coming to Canada to begin with. Canada opened everything at the same time or earlier than the USA, nobody here wears masks or social distances either and we’re sending our kids back to school in September too. I think we’ve been extremely lucky with our low case count, but it is now starting to rise so I think we should get rid of this whole “they’re doing worse than us right now so let’s shun them” attitude. It could only be a matter of weeks or months and we could be doing just as poorly as they are so don’t act so like we’re better because we’re not. We’re Canadians, the friendliest people in the world, we’re better than this.

2020.08.14 07:26 AdmiralSpeedyHonest Review of EFFYDESK's Business Frame and the Company as a Whole.
I'm writing this incredibly long post as a real customer with no affiliation whatsoever to EFFYDESK after purchasing one of their Business desk frames. I was sent some additional products and given a discount but this in no way impacts my review. Being Canadian, there aren't a ton of options for reasonably priced adjustable height desks unless you want to pay a fortune and pay even more for duty/import. I spent over a week looking at all of my options for a reasonably priced ($400-$600) adjustable height desk that shipped from within Canada. I will clarify that I really wasn't actually looking for a desk to stand at, but was looking for a desk that could go low enough for my sitting position such that my arms were at the proper height for my keyboard (every stationary desk I can find is about 29" high, which is about 3" too high and uncomfortable). I found a few options, including Autonomous, Anthro, and EFFY that were within my price range. I was originally planning on going with the Autonomous but after watching some stability tests and reading reviews (and subsequently coming to my own conclusion that BTOD is incredibly biased and ignoring their reviews) I was kind of worried about the overall stability and the quality of the electronics. The dual motor variant of the Anthro desk seems to be pretty much always out of stock and I didn't want to bother with a single motor system because I have two heavy 27" monitors, speakers and a heavy PC that all sit on my desk. EFFY was left as my only choice but I was rather skeptical because they seemed like such a small company. After doing some Googling I found quite a number of negative posts about them faking positive reviews with throwaway accounts and trying to buy fake reviews from people. After finding this, I decided to contact them directly through their Facebook page and surprisingly I was contacted back almost immediately, by someone I believe to be the owner of the company (his name is Dickson). I asked about the negativity I found online and he was completely up front and open about it, apologizing and explaining that they did try to buy exposure when they started out and that they stopped immediately after they were called out for it. He explained that to this day they still get asked about it all the time and regret it. I also asked about the company name change from Starkstoredeals to EFFYDESK, because it seemed a bit odd, and I was told that this was done for the review incident purely as a rebrand because they felt having "Deals" in their name made their products seem cheaper quality. Finally, I asked about the 2-3 video reviews I found online that seemed almost scripted and fake, especially considering all of them were on channels where the review was the only video on each channel. It was explained to me that they were not paid/scripted but that the customers reached out and asked for a discount in return for an "honest" review. I definitely think they were being genuine about the review buying incident, especially because they do not seem to suppress negative reviews at all on their site and the explanation for the name change seemed fair and valid. Personally, I do not believe that the review videos I found were simply done for a discount. They all seem incredibly stiff, overwhelmingly positive (the one that shows the sturdiness does it in such a way that no normal desk would flex or wobble anyways) and almost scripted, plus the fact that not one of them was on a channel that had any other product reviews (or other videos for that matter) leads me to believe that they are either friends of Dickson/someone at EFFYDESK or they were given a VERY large discount for an overwhelmingly positive review. I have no concrete proof of this, so it's my word against theirs, but you can go look up EFFYDESK reviews on YouTube and I think you'll agree with me. Dickson asked what desks I was looking at and I told him I was considering the Autonomous desk. I asked if they could come down closer in price to the Autonomous desk price (there was a coupon code available at the time that brought their Premium frame down to about $500) because even with the sale that EFFYDESK was running (and still is running), their dual motor Business frame was about $590. Dickson gave me a $90 off coupon to match Autonomous and I explained that I would find my own top because I wanted something made of solid wood (which EFFY might offer, I didn't really look) but I was worried about shipping damaged, so I bought a counter top at Home Depot. After thinking on it for a couple weeks, I went ahead and ordered the EFFYDESK business frame with the coupon I was given. I ordered it on a Tuesday evening and I was a bit upset because it didn't ship the next day, despite their site saying they shipped SAME DAY if you ordered before a certain cutoff time, so it should have shipped next day (I can no longer find this on their site but it definitely said it). Dickson told me that normally it takes a couple days (contradictory to what the site originally said) but he would put a rush on it and get it sent out the next day, which he did and I was happy enough with that. I should note that throughout this whole process, Dickson replied incredibly fast to every message I sent, including after hours in the evening, which I greatly appreciated. Now here is where the real fun begins. They shipped my desk with Canpar, a company that although I've never dealt with, I knew was going to be absolutely terrible. They are owned by the same company (TFI Internation) as couriers like T-Force (which I dealt with and had daily issues with at my last job) and Dynamex (which delivers a lot of Amazon packages, with plain clothes drivers, in personal vehicles at incredibly weird and stupid times). A quick search for Canpar or any other courier owned by TFI shows that they consistently get 1 star reviews for being completely incompetent and rude to their customers, pulling missed delivery scams where they don't actually attempt to deliver your package and then tell you have to pay for each subsequent delivery "attempt", as well as damaging and losing items. Dickson assured me that they had tried many couriers and for large packages and they found Canpar to be the best for delivery time and handling, so I went with him on it but I was still worried (rightly so, as you'll find out shortly). The desk shipped on a Thursday and tracking said it would be delivered Monday and Dickson also let me know that he sent me a free standing mat via Fedex as well (I didn't ask for it but it's a pretty generic standing mat and is fairly confortable). Monday rolled around with no tracking updates since the departure from Vancouver, BC and the desk never arrived but the standing mat did (because for the most part, Fedex is actually capable of doing their only job of delivering packages). I immediately contacted Dickson and he had his account manager contact Canpar, which went nowhere because they wouldn't answer. Fast forward to the end of the week and the tracking updated showing the desk skipped over both Saskatchewan (where it was supposed to be going) and Manitoba and somehow ended up in Toronto. Throughout the week I had called Canpar 6 times, waited on hold collectively for over 3 hours and left 3 callback requests. Nobody ever answered and nobody ever called me back. At some point during the next week the tracking updated saying it left Toronto and by the end of the week there were no further tracking updates, no desk had arrived and EFFYDESK had no contact with Canpar. On Friday, I did actually finally get someone to answer at Canpar who put me on hold for 15 minutes, came back and said they didn't know where my desk was and that hit would be escalated to a manager and that I would receive call back on the same day with an update. I was also told that he didn't know why nobody answered my calls or callback requests but the hundreds of one star reviews online make it clear that they simply ignore most calls and don't actually monitor callback requests. To nobody's surprise, I never received a call back. So, with my standing mat in hand and no standing desk to stand at, I couldn't stand waiting anymore (I had to make this joke at some point) and after a few conversations with Dickson, he shipped me another desk via my courier of choice (Purolator, because despite being majority owned by the sad excuse for a mail service that is Canada Post, they are the only courier I have never had an issue with) and I was given a $40 refund for all the trouble. Dickson told me that the shipping price was way higher but they ate that cost and by the following Monday I actually had a desk. On Tuesday, to nobody's surprise, Canpar actually figured out how to deliver the original desk, with all of the original tape cut and the box damaged and clearly gone through. They did an "incredible" job at re-taping it, with both sides splitting when I set it down on my living room floor. Because it was already split open, I figured I'd look inside to see if anything was damaged and the manual and bag of hardware both appeared to be missing and a few parts had marks/scuffs on them. Dickson is arranging to have this second desk picked up by Canpar (or another courier) to be sent back and he asked that I provide him with pictures of their incredible work (I assume so he can file a claim or something). Shortly after the original desk was delivered to me, I received an incredibly helpful update from someone at Canpar telling that they had found my desk and that it had been delivered (I would have never guessed). Now for the actual desk review (only almost 10,000 characters in before we arrived here). Overall, the quality is great and it only consists of 10 actual parts and a bunch nicely organized and labelled hardware (of which you get one extra for each piece of hardware, which is nice). The manual was fairly straightforward, although the pictures are bit tough to understand (the PDF version has vector images so it's much nicer because you can zoom) and one step made absolutely no sense and was not actually supposed to be included in the Business frame model (I asked Dickson and he sent me a PDF of a revised manual he was working on). The whole desk took me about half an hour to assemble, it feels very sturdy (the frame alone weighs almost 80 lbs) and overall it is very nice, relatively quiet and it moves quickly. It's definitely not the most stable desk ever at the top end of heights. You can rock it forward and back quite a bit but it is pretty much rock solid horizontally at any height. At the max height with my monitors on a dual monitor arm (which is prone to shaking on a wobbly surface) there was only VERY minor (almost not noticeable and I'm very picky about it) monitor wobble when typing, which is much better than I've seen in videos of other similarly priced desks. Part of this may be that I also installed a 50 lb solid wood top on it, which I imagine probably helps with stability when compared to a much lighter MDF/cardboard filled top and Dickson also said the feet are wider than most other desks, which apparently helps. The motors are very smooth and quick and relatively quiet and the so far the electronics/controller seem to work great. Personally, I don't think EFFYDESK truly has much involvement in the actual design of their products. All of their accessories (chairs, standing mats, caster wheels, and monitor arms) look like they buy them out of China with their logo put on it, much like tons of other office/desk supply companies do. This isn't an issue or even a negative, because tons of companies do it, but it certainly does make their products seem less unique and a lot more generic (I have see every single monitor arm the offer on multiple sites and the casters they sell can be purchased on Amazon). This means that their biggest input is choosing products and desk components that are of good quality, and it seems like they've definitely done that. The motors, feet, and legs are all very heavy and seem to be very nice quality. The feet also do seem to be wider than most other desks, which is probably why this desk seems to be rock solid on the horizontal axis no matter what height it's at. There were no issues with manufacturing tolerances either and everything fit together perfectly, smoothly and snug. The included bolts and screws also did not feel cheap or flimsy and were quite nice. One other thing I thought I should mention is regarding the electronics and controller. When I first inquired about this desk I asked if it used the same crappy electronics from TiMotion found in most cheaper desks, Dickson told me that they use a different supplier that makes a better quality product. When I asked who the supplier was he told me he couldn't disclose that information, which was a bit of a red flag for me. Upon receiving the desk and examining the electronics and doing some searching of the model number (NT33BN2) it appears that the controller and button panel are most likely made by Shaoxing Naite Drive Technology, out of Zhejiang, China. I don't really know why Dickson couldn't just tell me this considering the model number is printed on a sticker on the main controller and one Google search told me who made it. Based on the design of the controller and button panel, I have a strong feeling that these are no better quality than the TiMotion ones because they look identical in every way. I can't confirm this unless I open the box and actually look at whats inside (which I don't plan to do) but I'd guess these components are probably made in the exact same factory as TiMotion with the exact same designs, schematics and molds (a very common practice in China). In the end, I don't really care who makes the electronics so long as they work and last for the life of the desk, but I just found it odd that Dickson wouldn't explicitly tell me who the manufacturer was when it took me one Google search to find it. Another bonus I will add is that I asked Dickson where they get the included adhesive cable straps because I couldn't find any online with real 3M adhesive like the ones in the box, and he offered to mail me some free of charge. He also said they are working a cable tray of some sort and that he would send one out to me as well (it's currently being designed). Overall, the experience with EFFYDESK has been very positive and their product is great so far and the rapid customer service and honesty is better than any company I've ever dealt with before. They also offer a very nice return/trial policy (30 days, money back, they pay return shipping) and a very long 5 year warranty. While I do not fault them directly for the shipping issues, especially after they shipped me a second desk on a more expensive courier, I do think they should reconsider ever using Canpar again. I believe that they only use Canpar because it's so cheap and I'm willing to bet they've had many more issues with them than they've lead on. I definitely recommend anyone in Canada who is looking for a reasonably priced standing desk to check them out and get in touch with their customer support if you have any questions I didn't answer here. Unfortunately I think the fake review incident will remain with them forever now but I'm glad it didn't stop me from making my initial inquiry and purchase and I think it can be overlooked at this point. I will reiterate that although I was given priority support and additional products/discounts, this in no way changed my review of the desk, which is why I have explained everything (positive and negative) from beginning to end and I have left nothing out.
2020.08.13 07:50 whatifthisworks43 [F4M] Vancouver, BC - I LOVE MEN
I went out for happy hour with a friend tonight and for whatever reason, I was really digging all the men I was seeing while I was out. Men are great. Today, I was reminded about my appreciation for men with salt & pepper hair, who are observant and attentive, who have an opinion about things (he would have preferred Elizabeth Warren as the VP running mate) and who are strong enough to throw me around a little. Gawd, I love men. I'd love someone who likes road trips and affection, who might be willing to help me with the duvet cover, will help me moving heavy things, will take me camping and someone who could possibly help me sort the box of cords I own. I'm always open to make a connection with anyone anywhere but I'm currently in Vancouver, BC. You're single, divorced or otherwise unattached and you will not send me lewd pics or videos. Chat soon. Be well. xo

Chat soon. Be well. xo
2020.08.13 03:02 autotldrB.C.'s biggest daily jump since April: 85 cases added in latest COVID-19 update
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 66%. (I'm a bot)
VANCOUVER - Health officials have identified 85 more cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia over the last 24 hours, the largest single-day increase in coronavirus cases the province has seen since April 25. Two of the new cases announced Wednesday are epidemiologically linked, and there have been a total of 4,196 cases in B.C. since the pandemic began. The 85 newly announced cases represent the third-highest single-day increase seen in B.C. since the start of the pandemic, Henry and Dix said. "The cases we are seeing today reflect exposures from a week to 10 days ago. A significant number of cases are also linked to travel from out of province." The vast majority of B.C.'s confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been located in the Lower Mainland, with 2,203 in the Fraser Health region and 1,273 in Vancouver Coastal Health. Elsewhere, there have been 394 cases in Interior Health, 150 in Island Health, 104 in Northern Health and 72 among people who reside outside of Canada.

2020.08.12 00:47 3thirty7pmFirst post from a married bi guy
Hey all Married and bi, as the titled suggests, in good old Vancouver BC. Just found this sub, but not sure if I belong. Possible throwaway account, or just possible new account! Been married to my gal for 10 years, happily. I did tell her right at the beginning that I'd experimented and was bi, but I don't think she really took it in or just plain didn't listen. So fast forward to now. I've had a few descrete hook ups over the years but not many. These days I find myself pining for some company and even just chatting but I find the personal sites is full of guys wanting to meet right now, outside, in the car etc. None really want to connect. So it's leaving me a bit bewildered. Are there any guys on this sub in a similar situation? Or are you lot mainly single? Am I being a shit for having these desires and wanting to go behind her back?
2020.08.11 02:32 HotterRodCOVID Public Exposures from Restaurant/Bar Employees, Not Customers
A significant portion of new COVID cases in BC are young adults (eg). If you look at the public exposure notices being put out by the health authorities, most of them are on multiple dates with time periods that start and end on the hour. These are most likely the shift schedules of employees who are testing positive, not customers who are only in there for the length of a meal or drink on a single date. If they are being infected by customers, there would be no separate public notice since the time falls entirely during an employee shift.
